Fantasy Gallery

Posted 23 March, 2010 in Other

If you are into fantasy art and perhaps role playing games then this is for you.

Dragon Age
This is a Dragon Age gallery of image.

Dragon Age is a computer role playing game and one of the best. It is not an MMORPG but still good fun and will probably end up being a true MMORPG within the next couple of years.

Anyway .. I just like the images!

Sell your Pictures on The Web!

Posted 19 March, 2010 in Other, Tutorials

With a lot of work, and a lot of time, I have made thousands of dollars selling little icons and clip art on the web.

I know that was an awful sales pitch but the truth is that making money on the web takes just as much effort as making money in the real world. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are after your money.
Having said that, here is how I did it:
Gather together, or create anew lots of images you think others need. I am talking about images that belong to you, not just anybody’s.
It is important that these images are photos, icons, illustration, vector files, that people are going to want to use for something. Artistic works are great for a wall, but perhaps not so good for a Power Point presentation. They need to be symbolic in some way. They need to highlight a fact. They need to be useful.
A simple example is arrows. Images of arrows and graphs. All very useful.
Once you have your collection, head over to http://www.shutterstock.com/?rid=72982.
This is an affiliate link. It means that I get a little commission from Shutterstock if you use them. I have such affiliate links to many of these kinds of site, but I link to http://www.shutterstock.com/?rid=72982 because I have found them to be the easiest to get started with, and they sell a lot! You lose nothing.
If you put 10 good and useful images on there, they will start making money very quickly, and do so forever more. It is not a lot, but it just keeps rolling in. I started a few years ago and a simple icon that took no longer than 10 minutes to make has earned hundreds of dollars. This is an extreme example, but if you have images lying around put them on and get them to work!
If you put 100 images on there. You will have a nice little extra income each month. I have around 250 images on it, and every month, I can buy something nice for myself.

Alternative to Twitter Micro Blogging

Posted 30 August, 2009 in Other

Twitter is great if you want to follow a person’s thoughts. It is best suited to celebrities who have things to say.

Wht if you want to follow subjects rather than people though? Does it matter where an article comes from as long as it is something that you are interested in?

This is where 3qwe.com comes in. You sign up and then set up rules for what you want to follow. For example if you are interested in "formula 1" racing, you would include a simple rule to follow any post title including the words "formula 1". Of course you can still follow people or "watch" them as it is called in 3qwe.

Check it out now.

Make big money selling photos

Posted 4 October, 2007 in Other

I just read about a guy on Shutterstock who is making over $300 a day!

I love the idea that he can just quit now. He can sit back and watch his library of photos make him that kind of money without doing any more work.

It is of course it’s not that simple. Oh, he could sit back and it would make him good money for a while but images date, and so he probably needs to keep his library up to date, but still…

It took him about 2 years to get the library together, and I am sure he worked hard so he deserves the reward. I think he has around 3,000 images there. I have around 250 and make a small $100-$200 a month. I am happy with that as I hardly need do anything to keep it going and it is a nice little extra income.

So many people are getting into this. A good camera need not cost the earth, and even if you only have say 20 images on the microstock site Shutterstock you should make it back pretty quickly.

I am constantly tying to get people into it as the work you do now will pay you back again, and again, and again. Even if you get bored, you can just leave it as I do, and it keeps paying every month. Images I had lying around that would have never made a penny, now work for me.

Sorry to go on about it but I just do not understand why everyone does not have a go.

The site is a success

Posted 3 October, 2007 in Other

I started this site around 5 months ago now wanting to add something of value to the community. I also hoped that it would be able to pay for itself via google ads and the odd link to places such as microphotography site Shuterstock. Note the referal link ;)

The hits have been huge compared to my expectations. I get hundreds of individual people visiting the site every day, when I was expecting no more than 40 – 50. Thanks!

Sometimes the site gets  4 – 5,000 hits when dig, or stumble or one those sites takes and interest as they do every so often. That is fun to see. (more…)
